Maia Hirsch is a Technion-trained mechanical engineer and a first-year Ph.D. candidate in Robotics at Cornell University, where she researches wearable haptics. At the same time, she designs robotic fashion pieces that have been showcased at New York Fashion Week.
At just 24 years old, Maia is already making a remarkable impact in both technology and fashion. Her creations have gone viral on social media, earning millions of views and capturing the imagination of audiences around the world.
In the new episode launching Season 3 of the Technion Alumni Go Global Podcast, Maia shares her extraordinary journey: living in four different countries, not always by choice; how COVID-19, the war in Israel, and the situation in Venezuela upended her life while also opening unexpected opportunities; what astronauts on Mars and users in the metaverse may one day actually feel on their skin; and how technology could enable us to experience a hug from a loved one on the other side of the world.
