This Privacy Statement describes the types of information the American Society for Technion – Israel Institute of Technology, Inc. d/b/a the American Technion Society (“ATS” or “We”) collects from and about you when you visit any of our web properties or use our mobile applications , and when you interact with us by email, social media, or at our events (collectively the “Services”). This Privacy Statement also explains how We may use and disclose such information, as well as your ability to control certain uses of it. By using the Services, you agree to the data collection, use, disclosure and storage practices described in this Privacy Statement.
ATS is a 501(c)(3) public charity with a mission to enable the Technion to be among the world’s leading institutions improving the well-being of Israel and all humanity through raising funds in support of the Technion and supporting leadership in science and technology.
Your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Statement is for informational purposes and sets forth our policy with respect to the collection, use, and disclosure of information that We collect when engaging with prospective and existing supporters as set forth below. By using the Services, you agree to the data collection, use, disclosure, and storage practices described in this Privacy Statement.
Users from certain U.S. States, including those in Colorado, have the right to:
- Confirm whether we process their personal information.
- Access and delete certain personal information.
- Data portability.
- Opt-out of personal data processing for targeted advertising and sales.
- Correct inaccuracies in their personal information, taking into account the information’s nature processing purpose.

As noted below, we may sell or share information we collect from and about you, including with third party data brokers or through list exchanges with other reputable charitable organizations. We will only use personal information provided in a verifiable opt-out request to verify the requestor’s identity or authority to make the request. Only you, or someone legally authorized to act on your behalf, may make a verifiable opt-out request related to your personal information. You may also make a verifiable consumer request on behalf of your minor child.
You do not need to create an account with us to exercise your opt-out rights. We will only use and retain personal information provided in an opt-out request to review and comply with the request.
INFORMATION COLLECTION
As set forth in the Terms of Use, We provide the Services for use only by persons located in the United States. If you are using the Services from outside of the US, please visit your local Technion Society website instead.
Information You Provide to Us
We collect information from you when you choose to provide it to us, including by filling in forms through our Services. This may include when you donate to ATS, request information from us, sign up for newsletters or our email lists, make a donation, register for a conference or event, or otherwise contact us.
The information we collect may include your name, address, email address, telephone number, mobile telephone number, geolocation information, photos or videos, user name and, if you are an ATS donor, credit/debit card number or other financial information. If you use a third party service to login, link to us, or communicate with us (such as a social network or third party video chat), we may receive certain information about you from the third party based on your registration and privacy settings on those third party services.
User Generated Content
When you voluntarily disclose information about yourself in the content that you submit to us, including through the Services (such as your name, phone number, and personal email address), this information will be publicly available, can be collected and used by third parties and may result in unsolicited messages from others. Such activities are beyond our control. Please refrain from disclosing personal information on the Services that you intend to keep private.
Please also note that by submitting a public posting through the Services, We may reproduce some or all of it in our promotional materials — either elsewhere on our website, our social media, in an email, or in our newsletters.
Information Received from Third Parties
We also may receive information about you from third parties such as Technion-Israel Institute of Technology and other Technion societies (the “Technion”). If you provide us with personal information about others, or if others give us your information, We will only use that information for the specific reason for which it was provided to us. For example, We may supplement the information We collect with outside records, or third parties may provide information in connection at your request (such as if you choose to sign in with a third-party service such as Facebook). If We combine the information We receive from others with Personal Information We collect through the Services, We will treat the combined information as Personal Information as described in this Privacy Statement.
Information Collected From Other Sources
We may obtain information about you from other sources, including social networks that you use to connect with us. This information may include name, user name, demographic information, updated address or contact information, interests, and publicly-observed data, such as from social media and online activity.
Information We Automatically Collect and Cookie Policy
We and our third-party service providers, including advertisers, analytics, and third-party content providers, may automatically collect certain information from you, including as a Site visitor or ATS supporter whenever you access or interact with the Services. This information may include, among other information, the browser and operating system you are using, the URL or advertisement that referred you to this Site, the search terms you entered into a search engine that led you to this Site, areas within this Site that you visited, and other information commonly shared when browsers communicate with websites. When service providers receive this information, they are not permitted to use the information collected on our behalf except to help use conduct and improve our business.
As further described below, We may use cookies, web beacons, pixel tags, log files, or other technologies to automatically collect certain information when you use our Services or interact with our emails and online or mobile advertisements. For example, We may automatically collect certain non-personal information from you such as your mobile device identifier or MAC address, embedded scripts, browser type, operating system, device model, software version, Internet Protocol (“IP”) address or other device identifier (“Device Identifier”) for any device (computer, mobile phone, tablet, etc.) used to access the Services, mobile or ISP carrier information, referring/exit pages and the domain name from which you accessed the Services. We also may collect identifiable information about your use of the Services including the date and time you access the Services, the areas or pages of the Site that you visit, the amount of time you spend using the Services, the number of times you return, whether you open forward or click-through emails and ads, and other usage data so that We can understand the statistical use trends of our Services in order to make improvements. We may also use this information to communicate with you by email and social media. This information may be stored and used with your Personal Information attached to it.
Some mobile service providers may also provide us or our third-party service providers with information regarding the physical location of the device used to access the Services. If such information is linked to your Personal Information, We will treat it as Personal Information under this Privacy Statement.
We may also use third-party tools or services, such as Google Analytics and LeadID, to collect information about you when you visit our Site and assist us with analyzing and improving the Services or enable us to contact you based on the information collected. These service providers are not permitted to use the information collected on our behalf except to help use conduct and improve our business.
In addition, We may use a variety of other technologies that collect similar information for security and fraud detection purposes and We may use third parties to perform these services on our behalf.
Tracking Options and California Do Not Track Disclosures.

You can adjust your privacy and advertising settings to limit your tracking for advertising or control whether you receive more relevant advertising. Note that our systems may not recognize Do Not Track headers or requests from some or all browsers.
- Tracking Technologies and Advertising. You can set your browser to refuse all or some browser cookies, or to alert you when cookies are being sent. If you disable or refuse cookies, please note that some parts of the Services may then be inaccessible or not function properly.
- Promotional Offers from Us. If you do not wish to have your email address used by us to promote our own or third parties’ products or services, you can opt-out by sending us an email stating your request to info@ats.org. If We have sent you a promotional email, you may send us a return email asking to be omitted from future email distributions.

We may combine the information we receive from and about you, including information you provide to us and information we automatically collect through our Services, as well as information collected offline or from third party sources to help us tailor our communications to you and to improve our Services.

SALE OR SHARING OF INFORMATION
We may sell or share the information we collect from and about you, including with third party data brokers or through list exchanges with other reputable charitable organizations. Exchanging our supporter lists with other reputable charities including through list brokers is the most cost-effective way to find new supporters. We may also share your information in the following ways:
- with other nonprofit organizations, including the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology and other Technion societies;
- with third parties that We believe may provide benefits, promotional materials and goods and services that may be of interest to you, including with other nonprofit organizations
- with our Service Providers, if the disclosure will enable them to perform a business, professional or technical support function for us;
- as necessary if we believe that there has been a violation of the ATS Terms of Use or of our rights or the rights of any third party;
- (to respond to judicial process or provide information to law enforcement or regulatory agencies or in connection with an investigation on matters related to public safety, as permitted by law, or otherwise as required by law; and

We may disclose your personal information if required to do so by law or in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to (i) comply with a legal obligation, (ii) protect and defend our rights or property, (iii) act in urgent circumstances to protect the personal safety of users of the Services or the public, or (iv) protect against legal liability.
We may sell or purchase assets during the normal course of our business. If another entity acquires us or any of our assets, information we have collected about you may be transferred to such entity. In addition, if any bankruptcy or reorganization proceeding is brought by or against us, such information may be considered an asset of ours and may be sold or transferred to third parties. CHILDREN’S PRIVACY
ATS does not knowingly collect personal identifiable information from children under the age of 18. If you are under the age of 18, please do not provide your name and address or other contact details or any other personally identifiable information of any kind whatsoever. If you are a parent or guardian of someone under the age of 18 who has provided us information without your knowledge and consent, you may request that We remove this information by contacting us at the below address or phone number.

We have taken certain physical, administrative, and technical steps to safeguard the information We collect from and about visitors and users of our Services. While We make every effort to help ensure the integrity and security of our network and systems, We cannot guarantee our security measures.
