Professor Yasha Jacob Grobman is dean of the Faculty of Architecture & Town Planning at the Technion–Israel Institute of Technology and founding director of the Technion Computer Oriented Design laboratory (T_CODE). His work focuses on performance-oriented architectural design, sustainable design, and the use of computers to develop innovative tools in architectural design and fabrication. A T_CODE workshop, equipped with cutting-edge digital machinery, is the only such lab in Israel. He is the founder of Grobman Architects, where his Porter School of Environmental Studies building won an international design competition for sustainability.
Prof. Grobman immigrated to Israel from Moscow. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Bezalel Academy of Art and Design in Jerusalem, his master’s from the Architectural Association School of Architecture, Design Research Laboratory in London, and his doctorate from the Technion. He was a postdoctoral fellow at Harvard University’s Graduate School of Design before joining the Technion in 2010.
