The Technion’s story has been intertwined with Israel’s for more than a century, from laying the foundations for a new nation to shaping its future.
During Israel’s 2014 Operation Protective Edge, Oketz K9 unit soldier Ben Fuxbruner and his dog Kimba were wounded in combat. Kimba later died from her injuries. Alongside his physical trauma, Fuxbruner developed severe sleep disturbances—a struggle that would eventually inspire him to found a sleep technology company named after his dog. “In a single moment, I aimed my weapon at one of the buildings and placed Kimba under cover. Suddenly, I heard six shots from the right. Everything turned white, there was a loud ringing in my ears, and I was thrown to the ground. When I opened my eyes,…
The Technion – Israel Institute of Technology and the startup company Decart have announced a strategic collaboration under which Decart will support the Technion’s excellence program, which will now be renamed the Technion–Decart Excellence Program. As part of the agreement, Decart will provide funding amounting to millions of shekels to support the program’s activities in the coming years. In addition to supporting the excellence program, Decart and the Technion recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to…
The Technion – Israel Institute of Technology sealed a time capsule during a ceremony in early June, set to be opened in 2124 to celebrate the university’s 200th anniversary. The time capsule aimed to capture the achievements of the Technion during its first century, according to a press release from the university. The capsule was sealed during the Technion Board of Governors meeting. Items were selected by faculty, students, and management to represent campus life, the institution’s innovation, and its contributions to research and education.
Cancer is the leading cause of death in Israel for both men and women, and one of the leading causes of death in the Western world. In light of this tragic fact, cancer research is considered particularly active, and in recent years it is focused on targeted therapies — treatments that aim to more effectively attack cancer cells while reducing general systemic damage, as occurs with broad-spectrum chemotherapy treatments that harm other body organs. NanoGhost, an Israeli biotech company, introduces one of the most exciting and promising technologies of recent years in this field.[OB1] NanoGhost develops a highly selective first-in-class…
In days when many students find themselves cut off from educational frameworks due to war, evacuation or instability – the “Focus Hour” project proves how a single initiative, born out of chaos, can become an island of routine and learning. This is a volunteer project that provides free private lessons via Zoom to evacuee students from all over the country. So far, hundreds of volunteers have participated in it and hundreds of students have benefited from it, and it doesn’t look like it will stop anytime soon. It all started with a sense of frustration. Ohad Tshuva, an electrical engineering…
“AI’s role in our organization is primarily augmentation, not replacement, of human labor,” said Itay Ezra, SVP, Global Head of People at Pagaya Technologies. “Where processes were once manual, AI has now introduced automation, allowing us to shift our talent’s focus to tasks that inherently require human insight and creativity.” CTech’s “HR in the AI Era” series explores how the AI revolution is impacting the workforce across Israeli high-tech companies. In this series, we uncover the effects (both personal and professional) that this technology shift has had on Startup Nation. Within Pagaya’s HR department, Ezra says exposure to AI is…
Israeli eye surgery robotics company ForSight Robotics has raised $125 million in a Series B round led by Eclipse. The funding will be used to advance development of the company’s ORYOM platform, a robotic system designed to perform cataract surgery and treat other common eye diseases. The system aims to deliver more precise procedures, expand access to quality care, and reduce the physical burden on surgeons. ForSight’s first human clinical trials are expected to begin this year. Founded in 2020 by Prof. Moshe Shoham, Dr. Daniel Glozman, and Dr. Joseph Nathan, ForSight is currently headquartered in Yokneam Illit and will…
“For millions living with Inflammatory Bowel Diseases (IBD), such as Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis (UC), every flare is a painful reminder of how little control they have over their lives. Flare-ups are unpredictable, debilitating, and costly,” said NimBio. The company has identified a clear challenge: a lack of time and actionable alerts for chronic inflammatory conditions. “But early detection changes everything: If we could spot inflammation earlier, we could reduce flare-related hospitalizations by up to 50%, saving an estimated $5 billion annually, even with conservative assumptions,” the company added. NimBio has developed a non-invasive Inflammometer™ technology that can be…
“Lung cancer and liver cancer are in the top three deadliest cancers in the world, simply because we catch it way too late,” said Ilay Marom, the co-founder and Chief Operating Officer at NaNose Medical. Founded around five and a half years ago, NaNose Medical is working to change that reality. Launched “with the purpose of revolutionizing screening tests and early diagnosis,” Marom explained in conversation with CTech, the Israeli startup is pioneering non-invasive diagnostics based on breath biomarkers. It’s technology that holds particular significance for the early detection and future treatment of liver disease and lung cancer. “Everybody knows…
Artificial intelligence is here to stay, and the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology will be instrumental in shaping the way it impacts all facets of our lives, from the cars we drive to how scientists develop medicine. To meet that demand, the Martin and Grace Druan Rosman Performance Computing Data Center will serve as a new high-performance computing (HPC) hub on campus to ensure that the University is prepared for the demands of research, development, and innovation for years to come. As it prepares to open its doors to students and faculty across campus next year, I spoke with…
Some of the greatest mysteries of the universe, such as the possibility of life on Mars or Venus, may never be solved because of Donald Trump’s proposed “extinction-level” cuts to Nasa spending, scientists are warning. The Trump administration revealed last month its plan to slash the space agency’s overall budget by 24% to $18.8bn, the lowest figure since 2015. Space and Earth science missions would bear the brunt of the cutbacks, losing more than 53% of what was allocated to them in 2024. If the budget is approved by Congress, opponents say, longstanding Nasa labs will close, deep-space missions, including…
