The Technion’s story has been intertwined with Israel’s for more than a century, from laying the foundations for a new nation to shaping its future.
Seven researchers from Israel have won prestigious ERC Advanced Grants from the European Union’s Horizon Europe program, awarded to senior scientists with exceptional research achievements over the past decade. Four of the recipients are from the Weizmann Institute of Science, two are from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, and one is affiliated with both the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology and Rambam Health Care Campus. The grants give outstanding researchers the opportunity to pursue ambitious, curiosity-driven projects that could lead to major breakthroughs. They cover a broad range of fields at the forefront of research, from life sciences and exact sciences…
The Technion is a leader in sustainable innovation, where researchers transform breakthroughs in energy, water, materials, and climate technology into scalable solutions with global impact. Here are just a few examples of how that innovation moves from the lab into the world.
Can ancient Jewish wisdom help us face the uncertainty of innovation? Prof. David Eisenberg reveals a unique “Jewish Map” for the creative journey, a framework that can help us navigate the unknown and find direction when we feel lost in the creative process. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference […]
Generations of faculty, students, and alumni have helped build the technologies, companies, and industries that earned Israel its reputation as the “Startup Nation,” with Technion – Israel Institute of Technology graduates founding hundreds of startups and driving breakthroughs in fields ranging from AI and cybersecurity to semiconductors and robotics. Here’s a look at some recent […]
Since the founding of the State of Israel, protecting the nation has been a defining focus for Technion faculty, students, and alumni. Across generations, they’ve helped shape the country’s defense and security ecosystem through breakthrough science and engineering. Here’s a look at recent innovations that are making a real-world impact in the defense sector.
A human ear, engineered and printed in a laboratory, may sound like science fiction — but at the Technion, it is already becoming reality. Prof. Shulamit Levenberg, a member of the Faculty of Biomedical Engineering at the Technion, has successfully developed a method to bioprint cartilage structures designed to replace undeveloped ears. Her work represents […]
Consider pancreatic cancer – the disease that killed Steve Jobs, e.g., despite the best medical technology money could buy. Approximately 467,000 to 500,000 people die from pancreatic cancer worldwide each year. It is the sixth most common cause of cancer death globally. Due to its high mortality rate and lack of early detection, the number of deaths is projected to rise significantly in the coming decades. And no new drug to treat it has gained FDA approval – for 30 years! Moreover, survival rates are bleak: Metastatic (Stage IV): 3–6 months, though recent advancements may improve this. Locally Advanced (Stage…
Rocket and missile attacks and natural disasters can leave first responders racing to save civilians trapped inside damaged buildings. But critical structural information is often locked away in municipal archives, slowing emergency response efforts. Researchers from the Technion and University of Haifa have developed an AI-based system that rapidly delivers this information to rescue teams […]
Coral reefs are facing extinction, but a revolutionary combination of 3D printing and ceramics, pioneered by Technion Prof. Ezri Tarazi, might be the solution we’ve been waiting for. In this visionary TEDx talk, Prof. Tarazi demonstrates how “Deep Design” is being used to rebuild the world’s crumbling marine ecosystems. From the Red Sea to the […]
Could the entire internet fit inside a shoebox? As our world generates more data than our hard drives can handle, we are rapidly approaching a global storage crisis. Prof. Eitan Yaakobi reveals a solution that has been perfecting itself for billions of years: DNA. He discusses his team’s groundbreaking work to translate digital bits into […]
Outside of Israel, headlines rarely portray the country in a positive light. Ambassador Reda Mansour — the Technion’s new senior director of global resource development and a decorated diplomat, poet, historian, and member of Israel’s Druze community — is committed to changing that narrative. Dr. Mansour has spent his career sharing positive stories about Israel, […]
