The Technion’s story has been intertwined with Israel’s for more than a century, from laying the foundations for a new nation to shaping its future.
President Isaac Herzog this evening, (Wednesday, 22 October 2025), conferred the Israeli Presidential Medal of Honor upon nine distinguished laureates from diverse fields, in recognition of their lifelong contribution to the State of Israel and the Jewish people. The ceremony took place at the President’s Residence in Jerusalem, in the presence of U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee, and with the participation of freed hostages Matan Angrest and Segev Kalfon and their families. Technion graduates have a high likelihood of success according to two recent independent studies. The first report, which came out earlier this year, concluded that the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology, is the leading provider of talent for major tech companies in Israel and abroad. The second report, released in September, ranked the Technion in the top ten worldwide for entrepreneurial success for undergraduates. The release of these rankings is especially timely, as the Technion begins the academic year with a new cohort of international students participating in an immersive four-year bachelor’s degree program. The Technion is a prestigious…

Ohad Levin, co-founder…
IceCure Medical’s tumor-freezing treatment ProSense has nabbed FDA approval, making it the first medical device of its kind to be endorsed for the local treatment of breast cancer. Shares lost some of their gains by Monday morning and were trading up about 8% from Friday’s close. This week, two Israeli neuroscientists have rolled out a blood test in the US and Israel that they say can measure the responsiveness of a patient with major depressive disorder to common antidepressants. Depression is one of the most common forms of mental disorder, affecting more than 330 million people worldwide. Treatment methods rely primarily on a taxing trial-and-error process to find the right prescription drug, which can take years. In Israel, the psychological toll of 23 months of war and counting has made the need for effective mental health treatment felt more than ever. The blood test, created by…

Dr. Eyal Orion did not dream of being an entrepreneur, certainly not a serial entrepreneur. He knew little about economics or entrepreneurship. By the age of 30, he had not yet decided what he truly wanted to do in life. Even while on a seemingly safe path at the Technion’s medical school, doubts about whether medicine was the right choice never gave him any rest. Today, nearly two decades later, he is one of the most prominent figures in Israel’s medical device industry. He spent his childhood in Ramat Efal as one of four siblings. His parents still live in…

The accolade affirms the Technion’s role as a driver of Israel’s economic strength. Technion graduates tend to remain in Israel, where they make a disproportional […]
Until last summer, Shlomit Weiss managed 20,000 people at Intel centers around the world, overseeing development of the company’s most widely-used computer chips. Her resume includes three decades in the bosom of the US-based chip manufacturer, which is also the largest private employer in Israel, and another three years as Mellanox’s hardware development manager. And if that’s wasn’t enough, she was also one of those who persuaded Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang to acquire Mellanox. But now, at age 62, Weiss is reinventing herself, and busy with the small details of starting an independent business: building her own website, handing out…
