Zahava Bar-Nir led the organization during one of the most exciting periods in ATS memory. She presided over the launch of the $1.8 billion Technion Global Campaign, From Visionary Education to a World of Impact, the most ambitious fundraising effort ever for an Israeli university. She was at the helm when the Joan & Irwin Jacobs Technion-Cornell Institute relocated to its permanent home on New York City’s Roosevelt Island, and the Guangdong Technion Israel Institute of Technology was inaugurated in China. And Ms. Bar-Nir helped plan the successful three year-long Technion World Tour, which took participants to all three Technion presences in Israel, New York, and China.
Ms. Bar-Nir is past President of the ATS – Philadelphia Chapter, a member of both the ATS National Board of Directors and Technion Board of Governors, and a graduate of the first class of the ATS 21st Century Leadership Development Program.
Together with her husband Zack, she is a Technion Guardian, a distinction reserved for those who have reached the highest level of commitment to the Technion and Israel. She and Zack are members of The Genesis Circle, the society of American donors who have made the Technion part of their philanthropic legacy. She has been recognized for her longstanding dedication with a Technion Honorary Doctorate in 2009 and an Honorary Fellowship in 2004.
Her numerous gifts to the Technion include the Bar-Nir/Bergreen Software Technology Center of Excellence; the Bar-Nir Bergreen Family Graduate Student Research Lounge; and support for the Carl Alpert Technion Employees’ Center, the Louis and Bessie Stein Foundation Biotechnology and Food Engineering Complex, and other initiatives.
Ms. Bar-Nir is a resident of Boca Raton and Philadelphia.
