SPEAKERS
After both of her beloved grandfathers died from cancer, Maya Kaduri ’17, M.S.’19 is pursuing breast cancer research as a Ph.D. candidate in the Wolfson Faculty of Chemical Engineering. Working with acclaimed Professor Avi Schroeder, she is developing a nanotech method that uses anesthetics to stop metastasis by paralyzing communication between the tumor and the nerves feeding it. Maya is also gifted in the arts. She has danced professionally in the Technion Salsa Dance Group and was a music counselor with the Jewish Agency in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Dean Zadok ’19 has used his computer skills to help the Technion Formula team make its first self-driving racecar, which attracted widespread media coverage in Israel. After spending a year at Microsoft Research Lab in Seattle, he is now combining advanced algorithms and ultrasound to improve prostheses for individuals with lower-arm injuries. Alongside his master’s research in the Henry and Marilyn Taub Faculty of Computer Science, Dean volunteers with Professor Alon Wolf’s robotics group and the non-profit Haifa3D to provide 3D-printed prosthetic hands to children and adults with congenital disorders or traumatizing accidents.
