We are excited to have Professor Alon Wolf, founder and director of the Technion Biorobotics and Biomechanics Lab, speak about his inspiring and life-changing work. We are particularly thrilled to be meeting in person once again, and hope you are able to join us.
Prof. Wolf’s wide-ranging research has applications for arthritis and post-surgical rehabilitation, and has led to the development of robotic snakes for medical uses as well as for urban search and rescue. Today, he is working with nonprofit Haifa3D to make colorful, 3D-printed prosthetic hands customized for children with their favorite cartoon characters. The hands are free and available to children in Israel, Gaza, the West Bank, Syria, and other countries worldwide — another example of the Technion’s commitment to tikkun olam, healing the world.
To meet the challenges of the 21st Century, the Technion is establishing the Human Health Institute, the Center for Sustainable Processes and Catalysis, and the Advanced Manufacturing Center. Prof. Wolf will be integrally involved with the latter, drawing on his work in robotics and engineering to improve smart manufacturing and help make Israel a hub of advanced industry.

Professor Alon Wolf is a renowned researcher, entrepreneur, and pioneer in robotics technology. In addition to his position as founder and director of the Biorobotics and Biomechanics Lab at the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology, he serves as vice president for external relations and resource development. He is also co-founder of MedRobotics, director of FIRST Robotics Israel, and director of the Israeli Olympic Sports Research Center.
Prof. Wolf earned all three degrees at the Technion and conducted postdoctoral work at Carnegie Mellon University. He worked at Elbit, Ltd. And Eilon Engineering before joining the Technion faculty full-time in March 2006.
