What Cutting-Edge Technologies Will Keep Israel Safe? Security Briefing with Brig. Gen. (res.) Prof. Jacob Nagel The American Technion Society held a virtual security briefing with Brigadier General (res.) Jacob Nagel, Israel’s former national security adviser, who was tasked by Prime Minister Netanyahu to develop a defense strategy for the next decade. Brig. Gen. Prof. Nagel is also the head of the Technion’s Advanced Defense Research Institute where he coordinates between the University, IDF, and Israeli defense industry to promote high-value defense technology development. With Hamas and Hezbollah degraded, the collapse of the Syrian regime, and the Iranian axis unbalanced,…
The American Technion Society’s lay leaders serve as strategic advisers to ATS, and in November the group convened in Boston to learn about the latest Technion innovations — and receive inspiration as they continue their work as Technion ambassadors. Attendees included the ATS National Board of Directors, Fellows in the current cohort of the Joel and Jeri Rothman Leadership program, which trains and develops ATS lay leaders, the New England Region Board, and the Boston Business Council.

Technion’s Entrepreneurial Impact In laboratories across the Technion campus, scientists are turning once unfathomable ideas into research they hope will become the next lifesaving cancer treatment, indispensable assistive device, or environmental discovery. The road to commercialization isn’t easy. But you wouldn’t know that from the success stories coming out of the Technion and the Jacobs […]
For more than 40 years, Avi Wigderson has studied problems. But as a computational complexity theorist, he doesn’t necessarily care about the answers to these problems. He often just wants to know if they’re solvable or not, and how to tell. “The situation is ridiculous,” said Wigderson, a computer scientist at the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton, New Jersey. No matter how hard a question seems, an efficient way to answer it could be hiding just out of reach. “As far as we know, for every problem that we face and try to solve, we can’t rule out that…
Stav Cohen is a Ph.D. candidate in the Technion’s Faculty of Data and Decision Sciences. He is researching generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) methodologies, with a specific emphasis on security and operational aspects. He recently discovered, or rather created, a potential threat to GenAI systems. GenAI uses artificial intelligence to create unique content, including audio, code, images, text, simulations, and videos. This technology is becoming increasingly popular. It’s used to automatically make calendar bookings, create chat boxes on websites, write poetry and love songs, and more. But as these tools become more powerful and “intelligent,” there is also an increased danger…
