Omer Sabary ’18, M.S. ’20, is a Ph.D. candidate in the Henry and Marilyn Taub Faculty of Computer Science. He is also a 2023 Ilene & Steve Berger Technion Visiting Fellow, meeting with ATS supporters in the Northeast United States. Born and raised in Qiryat Atta, Omer served in the elite 8200 unit of the Israel Defense Forces as a techno-intelligence analyst team commander and intelligence director prior to his Technion studies. Ido Han is pursuing his M.D. in the Ruth and Bruce Rappaport Faculty of Medicine, where he is a research assistant in Professor Sara Selig’s Laboratory for Molecular Medicine. Maya Goldshlager is an undergraduate in the Faculty of Biomedical Engineering focused in two areas: signal analysis, and biomechanics and fluids. Maya is attracted to the field of biomedical engineering for its breadth of subject areas and its many paths forward. ‘I can be a stand-up guy again’: Valley veteran regains ability to walk with new technology Richard Neider walks around Touchstone Rehabilitation with a big smile on his face. He has spent the past two months learning how to walk again with the use of the ReWalk Exoskeleton. “During Operation Iraqi Freedom I sustained a spinal cord injury that took my walking away,” Neider said. Life in a wheelchair was a big adjustment for Neider. Over the past 10 years, the Army veteran has learned to adapt – thinking he’d never walk again… until now.

Amnon Leibowitz, head of the Technion Construction & Maintenance Division, is also a Lt. Col. with the Israeli Home Front Command who has been helping with global rescue and recovery missions for 20+ years. As part of the Israeli delegation helping with search and rescue after the Surfside, FL condo collapse, he met and befriended Micaela Naibryf, whose brother, Ilan, perished in the tragedy. Amnon and Micaela ran the 2021 NYC Marathon together, in tribute to Ilan, and in honor of first responders all over the world.
Every so often the Technion is fortunate enough to receive support from parents, children, and even grandchildren of the same family.
