The Technion has been ranked 85th on the list of the top 100 academic institutions worldwide, according to the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) published this August by Shanghai Ranking. Among technological universities, the Technion placed 11th in the world.

“Our position in the Shanghai Ranking confirms the Technion’s stature among the world’s best technological universities,” said Technion President Professor Uri Sivan.

The Technion also received very high marks for its strength in specific fields, which include aerospace engineering and electrical and computer engineering, ranking 25th and 33rd in the world respectively.

“The Technion’s position in the Shanghai Ranking and other rankings is not an end in itself, but it is certainly a source of great pride and an opportunity to reflect on the achievements of this prestigious institution since its inception. The Technion competes globally with older, larger, and wealthier universities.”

The ARWU is the world’s leading higher education ranking, and since 2012 (with the exception of 2020), it has consistently placed the Technion in the top 100, ranging between 69th place and 94th place.

“Three Israeli academic institutions are included in the list of the top 100 universities worldwide, which is a testament to the excellence of Israeli science and academia and a source of pride for us all,” said Prof. Sivan.
