Your Role
As the Director of Development in the NY Metro area, you are a driven and persuasive leader who thrives on building relationships and inspiring others to join our mission. Your primary role will be to spearhead fundraising efforts, with a significant focus on supporting the Jacobs Technion-Cornell Institute at Cornell Tech. This dynamic position blends strategic fundraising with direct contributions to global innovation, offering a unique opportunity to explore new opportunities in philanthropy to impact Israel’s technological advancements and global science.
You’ll work under the guidance of the Senior Director of Development, NY Metro, to cultivate and engage new and existing constituencies, particularly targeting stakeholders associated with the Jacobs Technion-Cornell Institute. Your mission will be to develop a robust fundraising portfolio, emphasizing substantial gifts from influential individuals, families and foundations in the NY Metro and beyond. This role requires strategic planning, building and maintaining relationships with the ability to influence and persuade diverse stakeholders to meet and exceed our philanthropic goals.
This hybrid position, based in our New York office with flexible arrangements, involves local travel to foster high-value relationships and represent our mission with current and potential donors. It’s an opportunity to explore new frontiers in philanthropy to support transformative research and innovation that shapes the future.
Primary Duties Include:
- Collaborate with the Senior Director of Development to refine fundraising strategies, focusing on engaging donors for major gifts and annual support for the JTCI mission, priorities, and initiatives. This may include existing donor giving programs, like Friends of Runway, or planning and executing new programs to build the donor pipeline and raise funds for the JCTI Institute.
- Serve as the liaison between ATS and JTCI faculty and Cornell Tech Development Staff, coordinating with them to identify donor prospects, develop fundraising strategies, and organize events on Roosevelt Island, New York City, and beyond.
- Build and nurture a portfolio of 50-100 potential donors and lay leaders for JTCI, with an initial focus on content-driven efforts to support philanthropic goals and engage new donors over the next 2-3 years.
- Strengthen ATS’s presence in Long Island, Brooklyn, and Manhattan, deploying strategic resources for philanthropic growth and collaboration with the NY Metro team to engage new donors.
Your Expertise
- Brings over 7 years of experience in major gifts fundraising within education, technology, or advocacy, with a deep passion for Israel and a commitment to our mission.
- An excellent communicator with strong public speaking, networking and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while thriving under pressure.
- A creative problem-solver and strategic thinker, who exhibits strong decision-making with an entrepreneurial spirit, adept at independently implementing strategies and creating solutions in a collaborative environment.
