The American Technion Society (ATS) is currently seeking a Director of Development (New York Metro) to join their growing organization. This position is a hybrid New York Metro-based role.

Salary range: $150,000-180,000

The American Technion Society (ATS) supports visionary education and world-changing impact through the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology. Based in New York City, it represents thousands of US donors, alumni, and stakeholders who invest in the Technion's growth and innovation to advance critical research and technologies that serve the State of Israel and the global good. ATS employs a staff of 60 + that work from New York and in regional offices across the United States.

Your Role

As the Director of Development in the NY Metro area, your primary role will be to spearhead fundraising efforts, with a significant focus on supporting the Jacobs Technion-Cornell Institute at Cornell Tech. This dynamic position blends strategic fundraising with direct contributions to global innovation, offering a unique opportunity to impact Israel’s technological advancements and global science.

Primary Duties Include:

Jacobs Technion-Cornell Institute (50%)

  • Collaborate with the Senior Director of Development to refine fundraising strategies, focusing on engaging donors for major gifts and annual support for the JTCI mission, priorities, and initiatives. This may include existing donor giving programs, like Friends of Runway, or planning and executing new programs to build the donor pipeline and raise funds for the JCTI Institute.
  • Serve as the liaison between ATS and JTCI faculty and Cornell Tech Development Staff, coordinating with them to identify donor prospects, develop fundraising strategies, and organize events on Roosevelt Island, New York City, and beyond.
  • Build and nurture a portfolio of 50-100 potential donors and lay leaders for JTCI, with an initial focus on content-driven efforts to support philanthropic goals and engage new donors over the next 2-3 years.

New York Metro (50%)

  • Cultivate ATS’s New York Metro donor base, focusing on individuals and foundations for major gifts, and engage lay leadership for broader volunteer involvement.
  • Manage a portfolio of 50-100 prospects, prioritizing high-net-worth individuals for engagement, particularly among baby boomers and Gen X’ers in finance, real estate, and tech.
  • Strengthen ATS’s presence in Long Island, Brooklyn, and Manhattan, deploying strategic resources for philanthropic growth and collaboration with the NY Metro team to engage new donors.
  • Partner with ATS and Technion stakeholders for effective prospect and donor relationship management, including proposal and stewardship activities.

This hybrid position, based in our New York office with flexible arrangements, involves local travel to foster high-value relationships and represent our mission with current and potential donors. Your Expertise
  • Brings over 7 years of experience in major gifts fundraising within education, technology, or advocacy, with a deep passion for Israel and a commitment to our mission.
  • Demonstrates exceptional communication and networking skills, effectively working with lay leadership to propel our fundraising objectives.
  • Exhibits strong decision-making and an entrepreneurial spirit, adept at independently implementing strategies and creating solutions in a collaborative environment.
