Two Israeli universities have been ranked among the world’s top 30 institutions for their ability to produce artificial intelligence talent, research and entrepreneurs, according to a new global index measuring universities’ “AI production capacity.”
The Technion – Israel Institute of Technology ranked 25th worldwide, fourth in Europe and first in Israel, while Tel Aviv University ranked 28th globally. The ranking, published for the first time by the U.S.-based research unit of public relations firm W5, evaluates universities based on their contribution to the AI ecosystem, including research output, industry impact, startup creation, computing infrastructure and AI education.
The ranking places Israel among the world’s leading AI ecosystems, with two institutions entering the top 30. The report noted that both the Technion and Tel Aviv University benefit from close ties with major technology companies operating in Israel, including Nvidia’s Israeli R&D center in Yokneam, the chipmaker’s largest engineering site outside the United States, Intel’s operations in Kiryat Gat and Haifa, and the talent pipeline created by graduates of the IDF’s elite Unit 8200 intelligence unit.
