Residents of Newtown Square, Penn., Mr. and Mrs. Berger became active in the ATS Philadelphia Chapter in the early 2000s. In 2005, Mr. Berger served as that chapter’s president. Soon after, he became a member of the ATS National Board of Directors, where he served as the Chair of the Budget Committee. Currently, he is on the Student Affairs Committee and the Physical Plant Committee.

Mr. Berger is a graduate of the ATS 21st Century Leadership Development Program and has participated in many ATS missions to Israel and the Technion. In 2014, he and Mrs. Berger chaired the Pioneers of Progress Mission, which visited trailblazing Israeli companies and Technion labs, and explored the Negev Desert.

The Bergers are Technion Guardians, a designation reserved for those who support the university at the highest level. They established the Steve & Ilene Berger Portable Biomedicine Innovative Laboratory and have supported research to develop a mobile device for the early detection of heart arrhythmia. In addition to his commitment to the Technion, Mr. Berger was formerly a member of Temple Sholom of Broomall, where he had served on the board and led the congregation as president. He is currently a member of Temple Beth Hillel-Beth El in Wynnewood, and is involved in several pro-Israel advocacy groups.

Mr. Berger is the Founder of Berger Rental Communities, and has been involved in multifamily real estate for more than 45 years, owning and operating apartments throughout Pennsylvania, Delaware, and Maryland.
