The Technion’s story has been intertwined with Israel’s for more than a century, from laying the foundations for a new nation to shaping its future.
Israel is no stranger to defending itself against existential threats. When the war in Gaza revealed that GPS-based drones could be disabled through cyberattacks, Technion – Israel Institute of Technology alumni in the defense establishment got straight to work. Hear from Brigadier General (res.) Prof. Jacob Nagel, head of the Center for Security Science and […]
Not long ago, artificial intelligence felt like something out of science fiction: It lived in futuristic movies and speculative headlines. Today, it’s woven quietly into our daily routines. AI helps us decide where to eat dinner, flags unusual health symptoms, and even drafts our emails. But while AI has changed daily life, its impact within […]
Generations of faculty, students, and alumni have helped build the technologies, companies, and industries that earned Israel its reputation as the “Startup Nation,” with Technion – Israel Institute of Technology graduates founding hundreds of startups and driving breakthroughs in fields ranging from AI and cybersecurity to semiconductors and robotics. Here’s a look at some recent […]
Since the founding of the State of Israel, protecting the nation has been a defining focus for Technion faculty, students, and alumni. Across generations, they’ve helped shape the country’s defense and security ecosystem through breakthrough science and engineering. Here’s a look at recent innovations that are making a real-world impact in the defense sector.
According to a recent report, government officials in the United States and Israel are considering a joint effort to develop a large-scale research and development campus for artificial intelligence in Israel’s Western Negev desert. The plan, which is called Project Spire, would create an advanced fabrication and design center to produce, assemble, and test a new generation of computer chips to meet the demands of the rapidly developing artificial intelligence era. The report in the Wall Street Journal was written by two members of Hudson Institute’s Center for Peace and Security in the Middle East, a conservative think tank based…
Rocket and missile attacks and natural disasters can leave first responders racing to save civilians trapped inside damaged buildings. But critical structural information is often locked away in municipal archives, slowing emergency response efforts. Researchers from the Technion and University of Haifa have developed an AI-based system that rapidly delivers this information to rescue teams […]
When Gal Harari ’06, M.S.’12, Ph.D. ’17 speaks about the Technion, it’s with admiration and gratitude. “The Technion has made me a man of technology,” said the chief technology officer of Israel’s Directorate of Defense Research and Development (DDR&D), a joint body of the Israel Ministry of Defense (MOD) and the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) […]
The Technion – Israel Institute of Technology — established a quarter of a century before Israel became an independent nation — has been inexorably linked to the State’s security since its inception. For over 100 years, the Technion has been the technological backbone of Israel. Nearly all aspects of the nation’s industrial, agricultural, scientific, […]
AI is transforming nearly every aspect of modern life — and the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology stands at the forefront of that change. From breakthrough research to globally influential startups, the Technion has earned international recognition as a leader in AI innovation. That leadership was underscored with the release of Greenfield Partners’ 2025 […]
Researchers at the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology have developed an artificial intelligence (AI) model designed to help guide whether to administer chemotherapy directly after tumor resection in breast cancer patients. The model, which uses high-resolution images from hematoxylin and eosin (H&E)-stained tumor samples collected at the time of diagnosis, predicts both the risk of cancer recurrence and the likelihood that a patient will benefit from chemotherapy. The research, published in The Lancet Oncology, identifies patterns and signals in the tumor that might otherwise escape detection. “These are complex biological signals that the human eye cannot consistently quantify,” said…
Six international companies are relocating to Boston as part of an artificial intelligence health care accelerator backed by the Middle East’s largest medical center. Sheba Medical Center in Israel — which has the world’s first AI-powered emergency department — first announced its new U.S. endeavor last May. Now it has officially launched the ARC Innovation Boston location in the city’s downtown, a “soft landing pad” for international startups working to transform the delivery of health care through AI and digital solutions. The Boston hub is joining a network of existing ARC (Accelerate, Redesign, Collaborate) programs in London, Melbourne, Singapore, Berlin…
