He is working to leverage computational systems to improve the treatment of cancer. Yaniv was drawn to the Technion by its […]
Gal Siegel is an undergraduate student of computer and software engineering in the Andrew and Erna Viterbi Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering. He chose to attend the Technion not despite the challenges it presented, but because of them. “When I was considering where to study, a friend described the Technion as extremely demanding and […]
With so many accolades across a variety of disciplines, the Technion’s sheer brilliance can sometimes be overwhelming. That’s why, given the current conflict in Israel, I thought it prudent to focus on the vital role the Israel Institute of Technology has always played in the country’s defence systems, ensuring its safe and secure future. Established a quarter of a century before Israel became an independent nation, the Technion has been inexorably linked to the country’s security since its inception. Of course, the most obvious examples are those alumni who continue to lead teams that develop missile defense systems, underground tunnel…

The recently released Global Ranking of Academic Subjects (GRAS) places the Technion among the world’s top 100 universities overall, with additional standout rankings in five research fields: chemistry, aerospace engineering, electrical and electronics engineering, water resources engineering, and mathematics. These achievements build on its […]
Even in the face of the tragic events of October 7, Technion researchers have continued their work, breaking new ground in their respective fields and winning awards. Their resilience was recognized with the 85th spot in the Academic Ranking of World Universities and first place in Israeli academia in the Globes 2024 Brand Index, which focused on the relevance to the job market when choosing a university. Industry As the oldest university in Israel, the Technion has a deep history of ties with industry, sending a high percentage of graduates to the most respected multinational companies. Israeli higher education institutions opened the academic year on Sunday amid the backdrop of the Gaza war for the second consecutive time, as tens of thousands of students — some still actively serving in the reserves — head to universities and colleges. Data from universities and colleges indicate that one in five students served in the reserves in the last academic year — marking about 70,000 students — and similar numbers are expected this year. Ahead of the academic year, university heads pledged to continue supporting reservists to minimize the impact on them and help them complete their degrees. They…
As the Technion prepares to welcome new and returning students for the 2024-2025 academic year, the atmosphere is both hopeful and somber. Despite ongoing rocket fire in the Haifa vicinity and escalations in the war with Hezbollah in the north, the Technion community stands united in its dedication to learning, perseverance, and the future of […]
While many Technion – Israel Institute of Technology alumni move all around the world taking on leadership roles across the technology sector, they often find ways to stay close to the Technion and Israel at heart. I recently spoke with Lior Ron, founder and CEO of Uber Freight, about his journey from a child in Israel interested in computers to an executive at a major tech company in Silicon Valley, as well as the many ways the Technion has played a role in his life and career every step of the way. Michael: I know that you’re in Silicon Valley…

Technion’s Entrepreneurial Impact In laboratories across the Technion campus, scientists are turning once unfathomable ideas into research they hope will become the next lifesaving cancer treatment, indispensable assistive device, or environmental discovery. The road to commercialization isn’t easy. But you wouldn’t know that from the success stories coming out of the Technion and the Jacobs […]
Researchers studying artificial intelligence training data, better predictions of extreme weather events and treatment of swelling linked to breast cancer are among the eight Cornell assistant professors who recently received National Science Foundation Faculty Early Career Development Awards. Each will receive a minimum of $400,000 over five years from the program, which supports early-career faculty “who have the potential to serve as academic role models in research and education and to lead advances in the mission of their department or organization,” according to the NSF. Each funded project must include an educational component.
