Technion Innovations: Protecting Israel and the World

Since the birth of the nation, protecting Israel has been at the forefront of Technion – Israel Institute of Technology faculty, student, and alumni minds. Here’s a glimpse at three exciting innovations recently developed by Technion alumni making an impact in the defense sector.

Protecting Israel | American Technion Society | Iron Beam Air Defense System

Deflecting Rockets With Lasers

Iron Beam destroys short-range rockets, artillery, and mortar bombs using a laser beam — eliminating the need for expensive missiles and making it more cost-effective than Iron Dome.

Developed in part by Technion alumni working for Rafael Advanced Defense Systems

Engineering Invisibility

The Ministry of Defense is developing camouflage materials that will conceal soldiers and can be molded to take the shape and look of objects, like rocks and trees.

R&D led by Technion alumnus Gal Harari

Protecting Israel | American Technion Society | Busy crowd walking

Rapid Crowd Screening

Scanary.ai’s radar-plus-AI system scans people in motion from up to 30 feet without requiring pat-downs, offering rapid, nonintrusive threat detection that could transform crowd screening at large events.
