Technion Innovations: Protecting Israel and the World
Since the founding of the State of Israel, protecting the nation has been a defining focus for the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology’s faculty, students, and alumni. Across generations, they’ve helped shape the country’s defense and security ecosystem through breakthrough science and engineering. Here’s a look at three recent innovations from Technion alumni that are making a real-world impact in the defense sector.

Deflecting Rockets With Lasers
Iron Beam destroys short-range rockets, artillery, and mortar bombs using a laser beam — eliminating the need for expensive missiles and making it more cost-effective than Iron Dome.
Developed in part by Technion alumni working for Rafael Advanced Defense Systems

Engineering Invisibility
The Ministry of Defense is developing camouflage materials that will conceal soldiers and can be molded to take the shape and look of objects, like rocks and trees.
R&D led by Technion alumnus Gal Harari

Rapid Crowd Screening
Scanary.ai’s radar-plus-AI system scans people in motion from up to 30 feet without requiring pat-downs, offering rapid, nonintrusive threat detection that could transform crowd screening at large events.
