Around the world, water scarcity is accelerating, from Eastern Europe to Africa and Asia, as climate change and population growth strain freshwater supplies. While desalination is increasingly essential, many countries struggle not with the technology itself, but with how to govern, regulate, and sustain large-scale water systems. GWRI’s recent work helps bridge this gap by translating Israel’s 20 years of desalination experience into actionable policy frameworks, giving other countries the tools to deploy clean water solutions that are economically viable and environmentally responsible.
International Cooperation
In April 2025, GWRI hosted the ambassador of Moldova to Israel to finalize bilateral cooperation in desalination and water reuse.
