Sleep and Dreams During the Coronavirus Pandemic: A Technion Webinar
With Prof. Peretz Lavie and Dr. Qanta Ahmed
Having trouble sleeping? You’re not alone. As many as three-quarters of Americans experienced insomnia or nightmares because of the coronavirus pandemic, according to surveys at the time.
In this webinar, former Technion President Professor Peretz Lavie talks about the correlation between stress and dreams, and how repetitive images of the crisis, amplified in the age of 24/7 visual media, crept into our nocturnal wanderings.
Dr. Qanta Ahmed shared her experiences treating critically ill COVID-19 patients with sleep disorders. She also described how fear of infection and economic hardship led to a spike in insomnia and offered remedies for a good night’s sleep.
